The Ticking is the Bomb is written by Nick Flynn who also wrote Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. (Which, btw, is going to released as the movie "Being Flynn".) I read Suck City for a class, and I ended up falling in love with Flynn's writing style. I'm not one to read memoirs, but both books are incredibly well written. And while the books deal with pretty heavy subjects like alcoholism, homelessness, and abandonment, they tell great stories that everyone should read. There's almost something comforting with reading about someone else's dysfunctional family. It's proof of humanity and how we are all the same despite our differences. I recommend reading Suck City first, since it was written first and you'll probably find yourself wanting to read Ticking just like I did.
