I was having a problem with my big toe on my right foot… So much so it hurt like crazy when I’d put on a shoe. I knew I had to have it taken care of, and tonight I had a little out patient surgery on it. This was a big deal for me because I am a total wuss when it comes to needles and blood… especially my own…
So three injections in my foot later I was numbed up. I listened to my ipod so I didn’t have to hear what was going on, but I did peek and saw some of the craziest scissors I’ve ever seen and a scalpel… That was enough to make me look away. When I was finished and checking out at the front desk I looked down and saw I had completely bled thru all the wrapping… I saw the doctor walking down the hall and I asked… "Ummm am I supposed to be bleeding thru that so fast?" He looked a little startled and asked me if I took blood thinners… Ummm no I don’t… ( and I thought isn't that a question you should ask a patient BEFORE cutting into them?? I'm no MD but still….)
So he rewrapped me with triple the gauze etc, and I was good to go. I actually walked home by myself… well limped is more like it, those shots really worked… (It was a 3 block walk btw) So aside from my foot throbbing like crazy, so far so good. And no more blood. The bad thing is I have to wait a week to wear a shoe again.
There's a reason they call it practising medicine...lol

I'm shocked that they didn't check before you had the surgery. My daughter had surgery for both ingrown toe nails and they were great. The doctor did it in his office, there was almost no bleeding and she couldn't leave until it had stopped and they were satisfied that all looked well. I wonder where you had it done. Are they good? Did you check them out and their references before you had it done? I hope they treat you better on your follow up appointment and that you don't have problems later on. Take care.
Hmmm...I remember that toenail polish....
I hope it is doing better now.
